Disney’s Master Teachers’ Life Drawing For Animation Panel At Comic Con

Comic-Con-550.14.1

This Sunday July 27th I will be speaking on a panel at Comic Con in San Diego with Karl Gnass Mark McDonnell and Dan Cooper about the drawing workshops we do at Disney. Please stop by if you are there.

Thanks,

Bob Kato

Disney has a long tradition (dating back to the 1930s) of running life drawing classes for its animators. The idea is that understanding and mastering actual anatomy improves animated drawings and gestures. Disney’s current master teachers — Karl GnassMark McDonnell, and Bob Kato — will talk about their creative philosophies, their approach to life drawing and gesture, how classical drawing translates to animation, and what animation studios look for in artists. Best of all, they’ll alert you to the classes they run for civilians. Disney visual development artist Dan Cooper will weigh in on how these classes have improved his animation skills. Moderated by Fast Company’s Susan Karlin.

Brett 2D Bean’s Graphic Novel

Long time Drawing Club member Brett 2D Bean is self starting his own graphic novel through KickStarter.

Spaced Out- The Story of Fil and Mantis is the story of two best friends trying to find their place in the galaxy filled with robots, bounty hunters, and corporations.

Check out his KickStarter here.

This project looks like a lot of fun and I myself can’t wait to read it.

So don’t Space Out there is only 10 days left on the KickStarter to be part of something truly out of this world.

Come support a great artist, and just a truly awesome guy.
